Gyokuro

Gyokuro is simply one of the finest Japanese green teas available, and this particular garden produces our absolute favourite. Gyokuro (pronounced gyo-KUR-o) translates to Jade Dew, and is shaded with bamboo mats during the last few weeks before harvest, which increases both the amino acid theanine and the chlorophyll in the leaves.  It’s very rich and complex with notes of sweet grass and sea air, and is ultra smooth to drink. Do a short 30 sec-1 min steep for the first infusion, and you will be rewarded with a second and third infusion (and possibly more) as well. Subsequent steeps produce a fuller, earthier cup. We recommend keeping this tea refrigerated as there’s a small amount of moisture in the leaves and keeping it cool will extend the life of these leaves and ensure you get a full and nuanced cup every time.
